ATTENTION: Important News on GDPR

Guess what’s coming down the pipeline? GDPR! Which comes into effect on May 25th, 2018.

You ask what is that? Simply put: a new privacy regulation which states that websites need to place a privacy policy on their websites. This even applies for ANY website which asks for personal information (even if just emails), you should have a policy.

It’s EU (European Union) based, so how does it affect me? Answer: If anyone from the EU can visit your site, it applies.

DON’T PANIC!

WordPress is already looking at a Core update to help with compliance as well as most plug-in developers.

So, here are a few articles for you to educate yourself.

WordPress has incorporated by default a privacy policy that you can edit to reflect your website into the Core of WP.

I am currently educating myself on all of this and it seems daunting but so far I think for us ‘small potatoes’ we are pretty simple in the info that our websites & plug-ins use.  Just remember, I’m not a legal expert and if you have any concerns over legality of your website you may wish to consult a lawyer.

If you have a website and are not using WordPress, this is still a must do for your website, especially if you are using a contact form or questionnaire or just simply email to contact your visitors and clients. Contact me.

As always, I’m here to help! Questions, contact me!
